From the press release:
Western Libraries has acquired the book ANTARCTICA, by Pat and Rosemarie Keough, and made it part of the Libraries’ Rare Book Collection. The purchase was made possible through generous support from the Provost’s Office, the Deans of the Colleges, and donors to the Western Libraries. This magnificent tome with its 336 stunning images, copy 405 of a limited signed edition of 950, will be on display during the exhibit, accompanied by its custom-made African mahogany display stand.

The Keoughs' work, which captures the rare beauty of Antarctica's mountains, glaciers and wildlife, is the result of two austral summers spent on the Antarctic continent.

In a statement about their photography experience the Keoughs said, "We keenly felt the immensity of Antarctica and also a certain vulnerability... Antarctica is a harsh land of extremes . . . and of superlatives." The Keoughs portray the “white continent” as a place of magnificent color. They have captured the myriad shades of white, blue, pink, purple, gold, and even green—colors which change throughout the long days at the whim of the weather and with the angle of the sun.

Pat & Rosemarie Keough wish to express their appreciation to: Bela Foltin, Brad Smith, Jerry Boles, Rick Osen, Connie Mallison, Gary Malick, Elaine Furlong, Heather Dalzell, Martha Mautino, Wanda Maddox, Lorne Kenyon and many more!
